A lifetime of service.

John McKinney’s background showed him how to have our backs. John’s childhood gave him a deep understanding of how communities are impacted by crime and struggle. Committed to being part of the solution, he turned that understanding into nearly three decades of successfully fighting for victims in the courtroom.

Keeping Neighborhoods Safe & Clean

John is endorsed by District Attorney Nathan Hochman, the Los Angeles Police Protective League and LA City Councilmembers Traci Park, Monica Rodriguez, John Lee, and Tim McOsker. He will enforce the law, including misdemeanors, support law enforcement partnerships and work with the city to make sure streets are clean and safe. That means the lights are on, sidewalks are passable, and potholes are filled.

Supporting Working Families

John says LA needs a City Attorney unafraid to take on powerful interests, from crooked landlords to corporate powerbrokers. He'll fight for regular people, not the big corporations and the powerful few. As a renter in Los Angeles for over 20 years, he understands the challenges renters face firsthand. That's why he believes tenants deserve safe housing, fair treatment, and meaningful legal protections. No one should face harassment, illegal eviction, unsafe living conditions, discrimination, or unlawful fees.

Protecting Taxpayers

John will fight to protect taxpayers, tenants, and neighbors alike. That starts with preventing costly lawsuits before they happen, through real compliance with city laws and real oversight of city departments. His experience means sound management and accountability, not more waste. That's why he is the candidate who can make Los Angeles work again, with less corruption and safer streets and parks.
